Time flies by so fast!

Doesn't time go by too fast? I feel like it was yesterday I was a young mom with my first daughter. Now all my daughters are moved out and have significant others and children of their own. My mom is in her golden years and recently she has been figuring out what she's leaving everyone when she passes. I'm going to be the big 5 0 this March. It's like STOP!! Why can't we freeze time for awhile and live in that moment for longer. It hit me yesterday evening like a huge ton of bricks and I cried and wished that mum wasn't getting so close to leaving this earth. I'm the baby of the family and I guess way more attached to her. In recent years we've become good friends and I no longer see her as just my parent I see as a woman. As i get older i appreciate the woman and her life journey so much more than I used to. She's a wonderful person and a great mother. She's been my inspiration for so long. I really didn't acknowledge that till recently. That's the cruel part of life I think you don't know what you've got till it's gone. That brings me back to time flying. I wished that I had seen my mother as I do now, much earlier in my life so I could have enjoyed her company for longer. Let my experience be a lesson to you. Really look at your parents see them as people not as your parents understand their life journey and what's made them who they are today. Really contemplate that for awhile. It can be tough to forgive something's but trust me get past it as quickly as you can because life is short and your parents won't be around for long. Don't live with regret that you never solved past conflicts with them. I make sure my mum knows ever time I'm with her how much I love and appreciate her.

Okay my Lovelies go hug your parents for me.

Mish Mosh V Day Nails

So I thought I'd treat you guys to another manicure this week. Just 'cause I love ya! So to start make sure your nails are free of oils and your cuticles are trimmed and pushed back. Grab your favourite base coat and paint your nails. I used my favourite Nutra Nails Green tea strengthener. I used three Colors for this look as you can see so alternate the three Colors.

Once you've allowed all the Colors to dry next comes the fun part, decorating...Yay! The the thumb, index and pinkie I chose to do a racing stripe design using the two Colors that aren't the base color. Starting with a wide stripe in the centre and a narrower line on top. I chose to make the ring finger shine and put a chunky silver glitter polish on it.

Last and certainly not least the middle finger. As you can see I chose it to be the white nail so I thought I try my hand at doing a camo design. It's a lot simpler than you think. All you have to do is dot the red and pink polish on the nail in different sizes and shapes all over the nail letting the white show through.

Now all that's left is to add your favourite fast dry top coat. I always use Sally Hansen's Insta Dri top coat.
VoilĂ ! There you have it a mish mosh design that's fun and cute. I hope you all like it.

Thank you my Lovelies

1985 Magic Kingdom Club Guide Book

This is a guide for a club similar to today's Disney Vacation Club. As you can see this brochure is thirty years old yet still in mint condition. It's been sitting in a box in our basement for most of that time. To tell you the truth I didn't know we still had it till my husband went searching for our honeymoon photos. The next few photos are of the inner pages of the brochure.

What fascinates me the most are the people in the photos and the hotels that are still standing and the ones that names have changed. Check out the ad for PSA!

Look at the prices! They're so expensive now.

Look how much smaller Disney world was...!

Check out the old car and rental prices.

The next brochure isn't Disney but I thought some of you might get a kick out of it too!

Ha ha! The A Team! I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos and reminiscing with me those of you who are old enough to to remember. The ones who aren't quite as ancient as me, I hope you thought it was neat to see the difference from then to now.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks Disney blog :)

This weeks Manicure!

A Simple Valentines Nail art.

So as usual make sure your hands are clean and free of oils and debris. Push back your cuticles and put on your favourite base coat. I used Nutra nails Green tea strengthener.

I've used China Glaze's Pelican Gray for the base color. I was thinking of making this design matte but changed my mind after the next step.

Using a Sally Hansen's I ❤️ Nail art pen in Neon Pink to draw a heart at the top of each nail. I find writing the letter v and then two dots together makes a great heart if you're having trouble drawing such a tiny heart. Then write the word love across your fingers and another heart on your thumbnail. Finish with your favourite fast dry top coat. I use my all time holy grail top coat Sally hansen's Insta-Dri top coat in the red bottle.
VoilĂ ! You have a pretty, simple but very cute Valentines nail design! Below is a photo of the products I used for this design.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks manicure. I would love to see your recreations. Share them with me on my Instagram. Or hashtag #fairywingsnails on Twitter. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you'd like me to do for future manicures of the week.

That's all she wrote. Show me some love. Thank you so much for all the clicks of support last weeks it means so much!

Disneyland Souvenir From 1985

I remember getting on the Submarine voyage ride in Tomorrowland and the cast member who helped me step on to the ride called me by my name. I remember thinking how the heck he knew my name. Until I stepped down the ladder and the hat I'd been wearing fell off my head. Then it dawned on me as I looked down at the hat "it's got your name embroidered on it you silly woman"
Geez Ha ha!

I believe I bought the hat at The Mad Hatter shop. I was so thrilled to get it because I got my name embroidered
on it. In those days they had cast members sewing names on the hats.
Now I believe it's all computerized.

So here's the treasured hat that I got while on my honeymoon almost 30 years ago.

A pink sailor hat with my name stitched in yellow on the front.
My husband and I were there during Disneyland's 30th anniversary celebrations. We had the most memorable and happy times watching the special parade they put on that year. I have photos but I will save that for a future blog.
So my Lovelies have you ever been to the Disney parks during an anniversary celebration? I would love to hear all about it in the comments below.

That's it for today's Disney blog hope you enjoyed it.

Anxiety and Motivation

My stomachs in knots, my chest is tight and feel like I'm dying. Have you ever felt like that?
Today I've been doing some studying, learning about blogging and it's making me feel very overwhelmed. Who knew there's so much to learn, if you want to have a successful blogging career!
I seem to feel like this every time I've studied for anything in my life. Is this normal? Do you guys get this feeling too? It's awful! I have this little inner battle going on inside. One side is saying "it's too hard" the other is saying "No! This will help you get closer to your dreams" it's like I can feel the little cannons and gunfire in my chest.

I'm just weird aren't I? Oh gosh I wish I had more confidence in myself.
Sorry this isn't a very positive post today my lovelies. We all have our off days don't we? I think I need to listen to Rhonda Brynes book Hero or The Power to get me pumped up and motivated again.
If you happen to be a more experienced blogger than me and you're reading this I would love it if you could leave me a comment on this post to give some encouragement and advice. Thanks my Lovelies that's it for today I promise my next post will be more positive.

Manicure of the Week

This is the first of my Valentine themed manicures for you my Lovelies.

As always start your manicure off with clean hands and nails and with your cuticles pushed back. Select your favourite base coat for mine I chose Nutra Nails Green tea nail strengthener. A good base coat is essential to stop the nail polish from staining your nails and to give the polish something to stick to.

I used Sephora's FormulaX in White matter for my base color. You might find with any white polish you'll need maybe two to three coats to reach full opacity.

The next step is to do a feathered Black French tip. I used Sally Hansen's I ❤️ NailArt nail stripper in Black. To make a feathered look you use the very tip of the brush and tap it along the edge of the nail.

Following the French tip I then added hearts in different sizes using Sally Hansen's I ❤️ NailArt pens in red and silver. I find these pens perfect for simple designs like hearts and flowers. Making a heart is as simple as writing the letter V and allowing the polish to pool and join to create a little heart. Allow all the hearts to completely dry and follow with a quick dry top coat like Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri top coat and you're done!
I hope you all enjoyed this weeks manicure and if you like leave me a comment on what you might like me to do for next weeks manicure. Do you enjoy doing themed seasonal nails? Let me know in the comments?

My Menopause Day

As of May 5th this year I will officially be in menopause. I will have gone one year without a period. So starts the next half of my life.

I was thinking the other day that I would like to celebrate it, much like you do when a girl gets her first period. This is a new chapter in my life and I think it should be celebrated.

Leaving the child bearing years behind for me has been one I've looked forward to be honest. Although I'm not enjoying the symptoms of menopause too much! Getting thick round the middle, troubled skin, aching joints and sleep troubles to name but a few. The bright spot though in all of this is not dealing with the messy monthly visitor, which is so great!

What do you guys think, should I call it an menopausary or just menopause day?
Would you celebrate this day too?

Hope you all had a great week!

All the best

My First Disney Art

This is the tale behind my first Disney painting.

My Grand daughter Amy came over for a visit and I was trying to figure out what we could do together as it was stormy outside. When I remembered I had some artist canvases in my closet. So I brought them downstairs, gathered up all my acrylic paints and she and I had a wonderful afternoon painting. This is what I created.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of Amy's picture.
I've called it "Mickey has nothing to wear!" He's throwing his clothes around his dressing room in a panic..... He he he
I definitely want to do some more to hang in my office once I'm finished painting and stencilling my walls.
Let me know what you think I would love to know. Have you done any Disney painting or crafts? Let me know in the comments below.

Hope you enjoyed my Disney art till next time my Lovelies

Manicure of the Week

This weeks manicure is a pretty floral fishnet design which is a pretty everyday look or even a great bridal nail.
So to get started push your cuticles back and remove any oil from your nails with a nail cleanser. Follow by washing your hands then put on your favourite base coat.

These are the products you will need to achieve this look. The Base color I used was Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Sheer bliss.

Next step is to do a criss-cross design with a silver glitter stripper polish for this I chose Quo by Orly Instant Artist stripper polish in Platinum Glitter. This achieves the fishnet design.

The next part of the design is the pink flowers. For this you will need Sally Hansen's I ❤️ Nail art pens in Neon pink and Yellow. You can choose different spots on each nail to place the flowers as I did or do the same on every nail. Put four pink dots on the centre of each cross to form the petals and then put a yellow dot in the centre to complete the flower.

Voila! A cute floral fishnet design for everyday or for a wedding. Hope you love this design as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Hugs 'n kisses

Don't be a Judgee McJudgison?

We've all been judged or criticized at one time or another in our lives but how we handled it is very personal.
Depending on family history or past friendships we all deal with criticism in a completely unique way. I've been judged or criticized for many things over my life by family and friends from being short to how I keep my house. For many years this affected me deeply and caused a lot of emotional and mental damage. Lack of confidence has been the worst of them and has taken a lot of therapy to get over it.
I believe we all react differently to being judged but for me I always felt small and imperfect. So as a result I went through a stage of feeling worthless. I fortunately don't feel that way anymore! Yay!

My reason for posting this is because I want ideally for people to think before they say something judgemental or critical. How is what I'm about say going to affect that person? If someone said that to me how would I feel? Do I want to be the person that causes that person so much hurt that they have to have years of therapy to heal emotionally?

I have over the years said awful things to people but I think the difference has always been that after I said something I immediately felt bad and said sorry because I knew what it felt like to be criticized. Often when I was hurt, those people didn't think they had to say sorry. I couldn't bare to let people hurt like that.
So the next time you catch yourself being critical of anyone, whether they can hear you or not. STOP. Think. How would I feel if someone said that about me or someone I loved? If you answer sad or awful then don't do it!
I try to live by this saying and I know it's biblical but it makes a lot of sense. "Judge not lest ye be judged" or "Dont judge others or you'll be judged" have that saying playing on repeat in your head and it will help you.

That's it for today my Lovelies hope you've had a great week!

I Need A Mentor

Finding work as a junior travel agent is proving quite hard for me. It's been quite a struggle to even find a travel agent listing let alone a job that doesn't require a minimum of two years experience.

The last interview I went on I thought I'd hit pay dirt because I was completely up front about my lack of experience and he seemed willing to train me. I was really happy after the interview but nothing ever came of it. I was left doubting myself and questioning what I did wrong. Which I know is unhealthy mentally but we all do it don't we.

What's so frustrating is if I was given the chance to prove my passion I would be a real asset to a agency who hired me.

I'm looking for a mentor who is willing to help me move forward in my career goals. I want apprenticeship basically. Someone who will take me under their wing. Someone who wants to show me the ropes of career they've enjoyed having. If you've read my summary on my blog page you can see I have goals. I want to know all types of travel so I'm a well rounded travel agent but my eventual goal is to specialize in Disney vacations.

It only takes one kind, amazing person to make a difference in someone's life. Will you be that person for me?

Thank you all my Lovelies

My First Disney Souvenir

The first time I went to Disneyland was when I was fourteen years old, it had been a dream of my young life to go there. I had been watching world of Disney on TV every week since I was six and I had books and read along books with 33 1/3 red records. I'd seen Cinderella, Snow White and many many of the great drawn animated classics. I'd been in Canada for less than a year and friends of my mom had asked if I would go along with them to Disneyland as they had their niece visiting and wanted her to have someone her age to enjoy the park with. So of course I wanted to go!!!
It was everything I expected and more and that's when my lifelong yearning for Disney started. The park has changed so much since then. I remember going into the gift shop that was at the end of the Adventure Thru Inner Space ride or it could have been the McDonnell-Douglas Mission to Mars ride. I had a little bit of souvenir money so I looked in all the bins with the cheap things that cost less than five bucks and the spinning racks with the personalized key rings. I ended up finding this cute little license plate to put on your bike so I got it. I've kept it to this very day a treasured keepsake from my first visit to a Disneypark.

So what was the first souvenir you bought at a Disney Park? How old where you the first time you went to Disneyland?

That's it my Lovelies! Remember to click the ads on my blog page to let me know you enjoyed my blog.

Vivid Dreams

Have you ever had a vivid dream? When you wake up and remember everything you dreamt. I had one of those today. I wonder what exactly causes us to remember them. What did we do differently then any other night. Is it something we ate. Like Scrooge said "you're just a little bit of undigested cheese" when he thinks he's dreaming that he's seeing his old partner. Maybe it's from what we've been watching on TV. Whatever causes them to happen they can be quite disturbing or enlightening. Mine always seem to be a miss mash of my life in the present and my life when I was a teenager back home. Part of my dream last night I was at a country fair and a few ladies were performing a musical routine and they made a few mistakes, their coach came running over to them and started screaming at them and hit them. I was so appalled at what she was doing I walked over to her and told her that if she talked to them calmly and with respect maybe they would perform better. This time I think I know where they came from. I've been watching a lot of old Midsomer murders a program that's been quite a popular show with people my age for a few years now. If you're interested its on Netflix.

So what are your vivid dreams about? Are they always the same or are they like mine?

Till next time my Lovelies

Manicure of the week

This tri gold angled manicure is great for an elegant evening at a special restaurant.
Like all manicures start with clean fingernails free of oil and dirt. Push back cuticles with an orange stick or cuticle pusher. Brush/wipe away any debris. Then use a good base coat. Base coat is important for strong nails and for lengthening the life of your manicure.

Once your base coat is dry it's time for your base color. I chose Sally Hansen's Color Foil in Liquid Gold which turned out to be a little tricky and I ended up putting three coats on. Hmmmph! Once all those darn coats of polish were dry I moved onto the next step which is taping.

Sally hansen's Color Foil in Liquid Gold.

So as you can see in the photo above I've cut masking tape into triangles and placed it halfway down the nail. Now you add the top color in this case I chose Sally hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Copper Penny. The trick to putting on glitter polish is to tap it on to get a maximum amount of glitter. Once you have filled in the top part of the nails go ahead and do the tip right away. For the tip color I chose Sally Hansen's Complete Salon manicure in Almost Almond.

As you can see the glitter got a bit messy but my trick for cleaning up around the cuticles is to dip a small flat synthetic brush in polish remover and brush the polish off your skin. Once you have finished painting the tips of your nails go ahead and pull the tape gently off your nails. Finish off with a fast drying top coat for a beautiful glossy manicure.

Hope you guys enjoyed this weeks manicure my lovelies!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you I hope 2015 is your best year ever!
